She's experienced a lot of trauma over the past year, and the Judge takes all her circumstances into consideration. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Coming in to court is voluntary, in most cases. The majority of defendants come in to fight their ticket because they felt they were wrongly ticketed, or they have an excuse they'd like the judge to consider. People do have the option to mail in their payment. These are real people, not actors. Please keep that in mind when you comment. They don't deserve negative scrutiny. This segment originally aired Oct. 21, 2016, on VICE News Tonight on HBO. Russian “roofers” climb to dizzying heights to capture the perfect selfie, becoming internet celebrities along the way. But roofing isn’t just about danger and adrenaline, Kirill Vselensky told VICE News correspondent Gianna Toboni. “It’s a way to have adventure without leaving the city.” Some of Vselensky’s more than 50,000 Instagram followers now pay him for tours, and corporate sponsors are starting to fund even wilder stunts. “It’s my main source of income,” he said. When he’s traveling, Vselensky roofs to learn about a new city from an aerial perspective. “I was in Istanbul where we climbed the Blue Mosque, and in Cairo I climbed the Egyptian pyramids,” he added. During Wamda’s last Mix N’Mentor in Cairo, we met up with Lana Alamat, partner and general counsel at Wamda Capital, for a chat about the investment world. She discussed key points on when to raise funds, where from, and why. “It’s first and foremost a matter of stage,” Alamat said, focusing on how each type of investment is related to the industry, market size and stage of the startup. She explained the different types of funding sources, whether it was personal funds, ‘friends, family and fools,’ an accelerator, or angel investors. Alamat also discussed how institutional investors work, their processes, mandates, committees, parameters, and of course a timeline to exit. She furthermore explained the importance of institutional investors and value they add to a company. Listen to the...

Egypt and Saudi Arabia have signed an agreement setting up a 15 billion dollars investment fund as Cairo attempts to recover from its economic downturn. The signing took place in Cairo's Abdeen Palace in the presence of Egypt's President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Saudi King Salman. Egypt is struggling to revive an economy hit by years of political upheaval since the 2011 uprising, as well as an Islamist insurgency.

A Chinese singing competition Saturday was held in Cairo Opera House, participated by Egyptian Chinese language enthusiasts from all walks of life. 17 out of more than 130 candidates entered the finals after 3 rounds of contest, wining applause from the audiences with professional performance and beautiful voices. This event was the first of its kind in Egypt that welcomed people from various professions, instead of Chinese major students, to sign up. The event, organized by China Culture Center in Cairo and China International Radio, featured both traditional folk and hit songs in China.

Safe City was launched in Cairo in 2011 by UN Women and local partners to prevent and respond to sexual violence in urban spaces. UN Women’s Safe Cities Global Initiative is currently being implemented in 17 cities in developed and developing countries.
Oh! Mighty gods you consecrated the mystical rites.
Oh! You celestial, oh you infernal and of the sea.
Oh! Greatest polemarhs that nobody can confront you.
Oh! You that holding the copper cymbals.
Oh! You that come to earth with your shining armor.
Oh! You black dragons of eternal earth.
Hear our calling.
We raise our hands
Towards the sky
Towards the earth
Towards the sea
And we call upon
Korivantes the mighty gods
We call upon
Korivantes to rush again, rush again.
Oh! You that have the darkest countenance
And rush vexed against the mortals
With only purpose the destruction.
You that your breaths give life
And rage destroys everything as it passes.
And when their blood will flow on earth
Then you will blow your divine breath towards us.
